Solar Panels are the most common way of installing solar electric systems. This is because they are a great fit for most installations. Especially, when you consider cost and performance. These are the “workhorse” of today’s solar power systems.
SunCal Solar sells most “name brand” panels. We recommend only modules that have good quality at a good price so you get “more bang for your buck”. There are some significant differences between modules in quality and price; this is important to understand.

Patio Covers and Carports
Provide Shade, Cooling, and Solar Electricity
Partially transparent panels are great for patio covers, skylights, and sunrooms because they let through some sunlight. They capture sunlight for electricity, but still allow about 15% of the light through. This provides good ambient lighting while providing cooling by shade. These can often be added on to existing construction or designed in for new construction.
Carports that shade your car and keep it cool can also be used to generate solar electricity. This keeps the solar panels out of your way and keeps your car out of the sun. Solar panels installed as carports also tend to run more efficiently because they usually run cooler than on a roof.
Ground Mounted Systems
If you have space on the ground to install solar electricity and don’t have enough roof space then a ground mounted solar system can be a great solution.
Semi-Transparent Solar Panels
Ideal for skylights, patio and deck covers – Anyplace you would like to let some light through the panels.
These panels can be integrated into a building so that they capture sunlight for electricity, but still allow about 15% of the light through. These can be added on to existing or new construction, but often are best when designed in from the start of new construction.

Ideal for building integrated solar on standing seam metal roofs and built-up layered roofs. These are flexible panels that can be mounted on roofs and walls. These are usually best in new construction when solar and energy efficiency has been designed in by the architect.
